TC - Essential Mix @ BBC Radio 1 [19-01-2008]

2007 has undoubtedly been TC’s year, verified by sales, awards, great press coverage, and extensive club and radio support from dance music’s elite. Each of the singles taken from his debut album ‘Evolution’ topped both BBC Radio 1’s national dance chart and BBC 1Xtra’s drum & bass chart. TC has garnered unprecedented radio support from Zane Lowe (the album was his record of the week) Annie Mac, Jo Whiley, Pete Tong, Mary Ann Hobbs, Grooverider, Eddy Temple Morris and DJ Hype.
TC left school and jumped straight into the studio with his Atari ST and sampler and started making music, before catching the ear of master producer Dillinja, who released some of TC’s early tracks on his Valve label.
TC draws a lot of inspiration from the music he heard growing up in St Paul’s, Bristol - a vibrant inner city community famed for its West Indian carnival, as much as its history of riots and ghetto vibes. ‘St Paul’s is cool’, says TC. ‘You hear a lot of music. I can’t say I’ve never had trouble there, because I have, but I think that kind of thing just teaches you to keep your eyes open.’
TC feels very strongly that, despite his success, his work is far from over, and plans to spend many more nights ‘in the lab’ until everything is just right. In his own words, ‘the minute you get lazy, the whole thing falls apart around your ears. Sound is something that never stands still, it’s a vibration, if you want to work with sound, you’ve got to keep moving.’

Bryan Gee & Lady MC - Live @ Pyro Radio (08-01-2008)

Going through Bryan Gees life story is like opening the bible of dance music. Bryan has been at the cutting edge of new musics and a crucial link in the logical evolution of the sound, that has now led to drum and bass: no one better than him can explain that this sound is the result of a long and very natural progression, and is deeply rooted. Born in Gloucester, DJing at Reggae sound systems from the age of 13, Bryan moved to London at 18. Settling in Brixton, Bryan started listening to all kinds of music; jazz, soul, funk, rare groove and hip-hop which reached the UK in the mid-eighties. But the major element in the equation had to be the emergence of acid house in 1987, that Bryan followed, going to Spectrum and The Beat Route. His friendship with Jumping Jack Frost, met while DJing, blossomed. They both set up Passion, a pirate radio station in Balham and acquired quickly a huge following. Highly respected by cutting edge record labels and artists, he always managed to get high profile guests like Frankie Bones and Louie Vega, and was one of the first British DJ to play French Kiss on air. Bryan found a great opportunity to showcase his new releases in London with weekly club Movement at Bar Rumba on Thursdays, started with Emotif Records and promoters Bulldozer. The club nights have proven to be the most versatile drum and bass showcase in London (www.movement.co.uk) With constant touring as well as mixing an album retracing 3 years of Movement residency.

Electrosoul System - Sound-Trax @ BassDrive [02-2007]

Electrosoul System is the production name of new Russian sensation Andrey Burtaev. He started writing music 6 years ago and recently started producing atmospheric / progressive drum & bass 2 years ago with his friend Dmitriy.
The duo's first tune was a down tempo track and from here they had little hope that their music would be released in the future. They stuck to their guns and continued to produce the music they love which eventually led to a track being signed up. Their first release was on TAM records [St Petersburg, Russia] and featured on a CD compilation with a host of other Russian producers.
In 2002, they sent demos to LTJ Buken and he was quick to snap up 3 tracks altogether [2 tunes for GLR and 1 for his Cookin' label]. It was around this time that the duo were getting influenced by Blame, Future Engineers and Seba, and started making more futuristic and deep sounds that they felt would be more appropriate for the dancefloors.
An exciting prospect for drum & bass, keep an eye and an ear out for Electrosoul System.
